Valokuitunen is constructing fiber optic connections for your housing company. Our contractors are leading professionals in the field, ensuring that construction is carried out safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the daily lives of residents. 

Valokuitunen is constructing fiber optic connections for your housing company. We have compiled essential information regarding the upcoming project below.

Fiber Optic Construction in Brief:

  • The construction of the fiber optic network typically takes 3–6 months from construction decision to finish. The project is carried out on a turnkey basis, requiring no action from residents.
  • Our contractors will be a familiar sight in the vicinity of your yard during the construction period. Some work phases require short visits to your property.
  • The main fiber network is excavated in the street areas. If Valokuitunen’s network already exists in the area, the housing company will be connected to it, making the project smaller and faster.
  • A microduct for the fiber cable is buried in a small trench underground. Finally, the fiber optic cable is installed into the microduct, and connections are made to the outdoor terminal boxes. Fiber optic cables are installed inside all apartments unless otherwise agreed.
  • You can move around the yard as usual during construction. Please exercise caution near construction machinery, and remind children in the household to be careful as well.

How You Will Receive Information about the construction:

  • We will coordinate practical arrangements regarding construction with the housing company’s contact person.
  • It is the contact person’s responsibility to keep residents informed. We will send them email updates about the progression of construction.
  • The contractor will inform residents directly if moving vehicles or other personal property is required.

Good to Know Regarding Indoor and Outdoor Work:

  • We will devise  a property and installation plan in cooperation with the housing company’s contact person.
  • Outdoor terminal boxes are installed on exterior walls, and fiber terminal device will be installed indoors.
  • The schedule  for indoor installations will be agreed upon in advance with the contact person and/or the apartment owner. To speed up the installations, it is advisable for the housing company to agree on a common time when the installations are carried out in the apartments.
  • We aim to use a similar installation route for all apartments. Installation work inside an apartment usually takes 1–2 hours. Please keep the terminal device powered on to ensure the final connection can be activated successfully.
  • Work on the property is typically performed with small machinery and lasts from a few days to a week.
  • The resident does not need to be present during the work phases, but access to all apartments must be provided for the installation of the terminal device.

Restoration After Construction:

  • Yard areas will be restored to their original condition, and all traces of construction will be cleaned up.
  • Excavations will be filled and ground restored immediately after work is completed, and grass will be reseeded in green areas.
  • Any necessary pavement repairs will be carried out centrally once all construction is finished. Temporary surfacing may be used before the final pavement.
  • Internet connections are usually available before the final restoration work is completed.
